SR 168 over Bieler Run

The existing single span bridge over Bieler Run on SR 168 (Salem
Church Road) was demolished and replaced with a precast concrete
box culvert. This project widened a previously narrow and
potentially dangerous bridge that is part of the Beaver Valley
Power nuclear power plant evacuation route.

Contracts where bridges all over districts 11 and 12 were maintained.
The repairs included, but were not limited to, steel, concrete deck, concrete
substructure, bearing, and miscellaneous repairs. The crews would remain on
one bridge for months at a time or be at several different sites within a few weeks.
Hot Metal Trail

This contract was the final phase of many that is extending the Hot Metal Trail
through Pittsburgh. This contract was one phase in the Hot Metal Trail
from downtown Pittsburgh through South Side. The site was located at the South Side
Works end of the Hot Metal Bridge. The work in this contract included a drainage
and irrigation system, curb and sidewalk, trail lighting, and a scissor ramp
structure to tie into the pedestrian bridge spanning the Monongahela River.
Oak Road Bridge

Replacement
of a stone & corrugated metal arch with a precast reinforced cement
concrete arch over Dawson Run including new drainage, stream back cover
cribbing and approach roadway. Contract price is $1,530,000.00 and was
complete in 34 days.
